Yesterday I woke up and felt better, so I went with the others to Howth (rhymes with "tooth," not with "mouth") to see the ocean and go hiking. Unfortunately, I think I overdid it a little because I ended up back in bed at 8PM with chills and fever. Or maybe that fever was a sunburn... Hard to say, but I felt like crap anyway. I'm going to take it a bit easier today and drink lots of fluids, and hopefully I'll stay on my feet.
Oh hey, did I mention that I got a minor sunburn? We all did. IN IRELAND.
It was gorgeous, and it's shaping up to be the same today. I guess we're just lucky with the weather.
So here are some of my pictures, starting with a few from before I got sick.
We found the touristy-est tourist shop in Dublin.
Look! Stellar is camouflaged!
Cute street musicians balancing on posts. Cuz it's cool.
Some really nifty street art.
I probably should have taken more pictures of the city, but I'd photographed it all before when I was here last year with Tyson. Plus I was sleeping for most of the time my friends were exploring the city.
Time to go to Howth! At the train station were the oddest Dan Brown advertisements we had ever seen. Seriously? Not gonna try to sell the book on its merits? I don't blame you, ad company. Just stick bears and sharks on your posters; that'll catch a few eyes.
Here we are at the marina at Howth.
Seals!
We ate a bunch of fish and chips, passed out on the grass for a while, and then went for a hike on the cliffs.
Mimi, our trusty map-reader.
This morning Stellar gave me a packet of rehydration salts to dump into a liter of water. Those of you who have seen me drink cold liquids (and like to make fun of me) know that my eyes scrunch up whenever I take a gulp. The salt mixture tasted horrible, causing the rest of my face to scrunch up too. Stellar was at the ready with the camera.
Thanks a lot, Stellar.
When I get all my new pictures uploaded, I'll give you all an account of our Irish High Tea. Until then, it's back to sleep for me.

I am happy you are up and around. However, it is worrisome to hear about chills you are experiencing. Good idea about keeping up with fluid intake.
ReplyDeleteFriends are a gift! Thank doctor/mom Mimi for taking care of you, as well as everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI spent four days in the woods running from biting insects and dreaming of shooting crows at 5am. NO!!! It was fabulous! Dave and the kids LOVE camping.
